For over 25 years Nikootec has been a pioneer in the export, distribution, marketing and sales of UK and European manufactured animal and human health products especially to the Middle East, including Iran and the UAE. The company has introduced new, best-in-class products and has striven to provide education in the latest scientific and management knowledge to users as well as a wide range of physicians, health care professionals, farmers, government experts and academia.

Nikootec undertook a country-wide introduction of probiotics to the Iranian market in 2001 (then at a population of 66m) and has carried out numerous high quality clinical trials on various health conditions in both animal and human health.

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR WORK WITH 'PROBIOTICS' AND 'SYNBIOTICS'

Having worked with the ICI strain, Lactobacillus Plantarum MTD1, from Ecosyl Ltd, UK, for silage preservation, just after the year 2000 we moved to a range of animal and human health 'probiotics' and 'synbiotics' for gut health from Probiotics International Ltd, UK, a leader in the microbial supplements industry.

For animal health, we undertook a number of dairy and poultry farm trials and were able to satisfy stringent regulatory requirements to begin distribution to farmers across the country. Working alongside customers to address their specific needs and delivering comprehensive education to them, our products are now the premiere brand in the country and are used on several hundred farms, importantly for the prevention of health problems and the preservation of herd health throughout the year.

We have maintained high standards for our human health products also, making great investments in scientific and education programmes for physicians, health care practitioners, pharmacists, microbiologists and other specialists.

During almost 20 years use of human health products, we have kept a close eye on safety and efficacy, and through a well implemented scientific programme have been able to propel the Protexin products into a position as the most trusted brand in the country gaining the confidence of distributors, practitioners and consumers alike.

This work has provided foundation for the scientific development and marketing of the multi award-winning Protexin products around the world. A recent example is the randomised, double-blind, placebo controlled clinical trial of Protexin Biokult in patients with migraine, which has formed part of the scientific basis for the new award-winning Migrea product from Protexin International Ltd.
